After landed at the JFK airport, I was taken into an office of the US Department of Homeland Security for extra check. I was told that the internship visa stamp issued on my passport had already been revoked, weeks before my incoming flight, without informing me. No reason nor explanation was offered on why I myself was not notified of my own visa revocation.

Since I requested entry of the US under the internship VISA, I could not enter with another valid short-term US visa. As a result, I was made to be and was treated as an illegal immigrant.

My belongings were seized, I was asked to give out passwords of my devices.

My request to contact the China Embassy was deflected.

My biometrics including DNA were taken, my body was thoroughly searched.

I was queried by two officers, handcuffed, locked to a seat for more than 4 hours in the middle of the night, then detained in a detention centre before being sent back to Switzerland the next day.

Yea… crazy, I know. So I wrote a blog post about the experience (in Chinese).
